Now it’s time to head to the golf course. You can’t wait to try out that golf swing of yours. Try going to one of your local public golf courses. There are many very nice public golf courses that are also very challenging. These courses are much cheaper than a lot of your fancy country club type golf courses. Check out what types of golf courses are in your area. There are a couple of golf courses by me that are only 9 holes. One of them is a par 3 golf course. This is an excellent type of course to bring your kids when you are just introducing them to golf. The course is smaller so they can hit any club they want. Also with the golf course being so short it is easier for them to walk it. Another advantage of a par 3 golf course is it gives you plenty of practice with your irons. You will always be using an iron off the tee so you will know exactly how far the green is and how far you hit your club. One other great advantage of a par 3 golf course is it’s not expensive. In fact it is cheaper for me to take my family there as it is to go to the driving range. You should also see if they have a nice driving range, putting green and even a chipping green. These all come in handy to loosen you up before your round starts. Don’t forget to check the clubhouse. See if they have a golf pro that runs the pro shop. If they do see if they offer lessons and how much they cost. This is a good way to learn the game and also become friends with the person who runs the show at the golf course. So check around, find what is right for you and get out there and have some fun.

If you are a new beginning golfer there are a couple of things you should be aware of so you have a good experience. In this article, we will talk about tee times, dress codes and tipping at the golf course.

What are tee times? A tee time or also known as a starting time is when you are expected to arrive at the first tee. Tee times or a tee time can be made in person in the golf shop, you may call the golf shop and some courses will allow you to make a tee time on the internet. Once you have a scheduled tee time, you are responsible for arriving at the course at a time which allows you to visit the golf shop to pay your proper fees, warm up on the practice tee and practice putting green as well as eat in the restaurant or snack bar if needed. Clubs and courses vary on how far in advance you are able to make a starting time. Call the club or course to find out what their rules are. Understand, if a tee time is missed you may be charged a “no-show” fee. Again this is different from golf course to golf course.

When making your starting reservation, also learn the dress code of the facility. Clubs have a wide variety of rules when it comes to their individual dress code. Denim may be clear to wear at one club and prohibited by dress code at another club. Fashion has actually gotten into golf and wearing a Tiger-like fancy mock t-shirt could be accepted at one course and not another. In addition, most clubs only allow soft spikes on your golf shoes. It is the player.s responsibility to be aware of and know the dress code policies of a club.

What about tipping while at the golf course? Again, first check with the club or course because there are some clubs that do not allow tipping. Most do. It is common to tip one to two dollars per bag upon arrival or leaving after your round, if you receive proper assistance with your bag or bags. The restaurant and the beverage cart are typically tipped on basic restaurant guidelines.

Once on the golf course there are some common rules that should be followed. The rules of golf state that there is no limit on how few clubs you can carry in your bag however you are limited to fourteen clubs in your golf bag. In a competitive situation you will be assessed extra strokes for this type of infraction.

Before going onto the golf course, you need to understand how to repair a divot in the fairway or rough. This is important to insure proper maintenance of the golf course. On the green you need to know how to properly repair a ball mark made on the putting green. If repaired properly the turf can repair itself in a few days. If the ball mark on the putting green is not repaired properly, it could take weeks for the turf to repair itself.

Before venturing out to the golf course, use these how-to and rules to make sure it is a great experience.

By and large, most golfers follow the golf etiquette on the golf course. However, there is a minority of golfers who not only rant and rave, but also cheat on the golf course.

Why do golfers cheat on the golf course?

The explanation is actually quite simple: They are frustrated at how they are playing golf. In other words, their game is falling short of their own expectations. Undoubtedly, these golfers are avid players – or rather, they are obsessed with the game that they would just do anything, however illegal, to get the scores they want. They need to win, and they have to cheat to win golf.

There are certain golf rules of the United States Golf Association (USGA) for golfers. However, it is not always mandatory that they have to play their game by the USGA rules. As a matter of fact, golf players can agree among themselves to set up their own rules, as long as they are not doing anything illegal, or anything that would interfere with other players on the golf course.

With or without these rules, playing golf will let you learn a great deal about yourself – who you really are. Your behavior on the golf course is often a reflection of yourself as a person. If you are positive about yourself, most probably you would be positive about other things in your life, including playing golf.

Those golf players who are easily frustrated are those who take golf too seriously. They get so angry with themselves that they rant and rave, and even throw their clubs about. In fact, they are venting their inner violence. To them, score is the only thing that matters in the game of golf. Because they are so obsessed with the need to win that they would do anything to the get the score – including cheating on the golf course. Yes, golf, more than any other sport, brings out the worst of an individual.

How to avoid cheating on the golf course, or even losing your temper after delivering a bad shot.

Instead of overemphasizing the importance of score, maybe all golfers should, first of all, identify the purpose of playing golf.

The most important purpose of playing golf is enjoyment. You want to play golf because you enjoy it. Therefore, focus on the fun part of the sport, such as socializing with folks, learning from each other in the process. Enjoy the green scenery and the beauty around you, instead of becoming preoccupied with the next shot. Next time, when you find yourself perturbed, maybe you should make a concerted effort to take time on the tee, and even walk off the green to stop, look around, and absorb the beauty around you.

Yes, take the game seriously, but take yourself lightly. There is no need to elevate your blood pressure over a missed shot. Remember, you are competing against others as well as yourself. You could be your own worst enemy in the game of golf. If you are cranky or in a foul mood, how on earth are you going to compose yourself for your next shot? Remember, mental golf is the key to golfing success.

Golf is considered a gentleman’s game and has always been associated with prestige and the elite. As such, there are certain unwritten rules pertaining to the game of golf. Of course these are not hard and fast rules which affect the game directly, but more of good etiquette when playing golf. If you practice good golf etiquette on the greens, it shows that you have respect for the game, as well as the other golfers that you play with.

Having said that, let us take a look at some of the general golfing etiquette that you can put to practice, regardless if you are an amateur or a professional. These will be followed by some rather specific rules that you should be aware of at particular times during a round of golf.

Keeping Quiet

Having respect for other players means that you should be quiet whenever other golfers step up to the ball. This allows the golfer to concentrate on the swing. After all, you would want to demand the same level of respect from the other golfers.

Another thing to remember is to avoid running on the golf course. Even if this doesn’t affect your game or the other golfers in your group, running around the course will distract others from their game.

Practice Playing Safely

When you step up to the ball and just before you take your swing, look around. Check if there is anyone standing in the vicinity of the area where you predict your ball will go to. Never take it for granted that the other golfers will be on the lookout to see if they’re standing in your way.

Similarly, whenever you are practicing your swings, never do it when there are others around. It is very rude to take practice swings in the direction of other golfers.

Also remember, make it a point to never swing your club when someone is walking nearby. And vice versa, never walk around a golfer who is trying to take a swing.

Keep To Your Pace

At any given time, remember that you or your group are not the only golfers on the golf course. Thus, keep in mind that you should at all times try to keep to your pace of play at a comfortable rate. This means that there should be enough time to keep up with your group, but not too much time that you’re holding up other golfers and cutting into their time.

Never hit into the group playing ahead of you. This is considered to be very very rude. If it was done unintentionally, then you should realise that you have failed in observing the common courtesy of golf. Even if the group ahead of you were playing slowly and you had intentionally done so, bear in mind that it is not a reason to commit such a rude act.

Should you need to play through the group ahead of you, have some courtesy by asking for their permission first. However, before asking, do check if the next hole is vacant so that there will be enough space for you to pass through.

If and when permission is granted for you to play through the group ahead of you, make sure you finish the hole in the least amount of time possible, so that you can move onto the next hole immediately after that.

On the Teeing Ground

Do stand out of the golfer’s line of sight as well as his peripheral vision so that he can concentrate fully as he prepares to take his swing. The best way is for you to stand behind the golfer and to remember to keep quiet as you do so.

On the Fairway

Avoid hitting too many divots, though some is acceptable. Moreover, try to put a few of the divots back in place by replacing and stepping on them into the hole.

Also, avoid spending too much time looking around for a golf ball that is lost. The golfers behind you might not enjoy being delayed. Should you lose a ball, and fail to locate it in a few minutes, just replace the golf ball with another.

On the Bunker

Do make use of the rake that is provided to clear off all marks made by you or your golf ball after you have taken your shot. Make sure you rake out all marks and footprints, and then leave the rake outside the bunker with the handle place parallel to the fairway.

On the Green

Do not step on any ball paths of the other golfers as this can affect the putt. What you should do is to walk behind the ball on its direction to the hole. Or you could step over the imaginary line between the ball and the hole.

Take time to repair any marks made by force of the ball which landed on the green. Your courteous ways will reflect your respect to the other golfers as you have left them with an unmarked green to play on.

It is important to place your ball back on the green before you pick up the ball marker. This will erase any doubts on other golfers as to whether or not you have positioned your ball in the proper manner.

On the Practice Grounds

Do remember to continue observing the general etiquette of playing golf as you would do on the golf course.

The rules or golf etiquette above are but a few of the good golfing practices that you can incorporate into your day at the golf course. These are basic common courtesies that are founded on mutual respect for one another’s safety as well as having respect for a game that you love. By practicing these simple ways, you will have a greater and more pleasant golf experience with other golfers.

You can buy all the golf accessories that you want, but none of them are going to do you much good unless you have them with you while you are playing the game. Keeping your golf accessories on hand may be a bit of a hassle, but when they come in handy you will be glad that you went through the trouble. There are many different ways that you can carry your golf accessories with you, and here I will discuss some of the most practical solutions. If you have just recently stocked up on golf accessories and you are looking for a solution to the predicament of portability, you will probably encounter some information that will be very beneficial to your cause.

Your golf bag probably has quite a few compartments that are not filled up by the actual golf clubs themselves. Do you have these compartments stuffed to the max? Since you will be carrying your golf club bag with you anyways, you might as well make the best of it and include some of the accessories that you are most likely to need while playing your game. This could include extra balls and tees, a small club repair kit, extra sunblock, a first aid kit, and anything else that you might think of. As long as it can fit, put it in there. It will be especially convenient if everything ends up fitting inside of the golf bag.

Just for the sake of making sure that you are taken care of, let us assume that you can’t fit everything inside of the golf bag and you would like to take more along with you. Should you just carry it along with you and leave it in the golf cart? Well, that’s exactly what you should do. Get some sort of backpack or duffel bag that you can fill with all of your accessories that you may need in the middle of the game, and keep it under your seat in the golf cart. Before you get together with your friends to go golfing, tell them what all you have. If several people bring the same thing when only one is needed, unnecessary space will be taken up just to keep everything and everyone inside of the golf cart.

In order to bring everything you want along with you, you will need to be realistic in deciding what you really want to bring along. Do you need a golf club cleaner when you are just going out to play a couple of holes? Wouldn’t a rag be just fine for touching up the club before you put it back into the bag? While these various accessories may seem worthless if you don’t bring them along, you just have to keep telling yourself that you will be able to enjoy their functionality once you arrive back home. This will provide you with motivation to not bring the unnecessary items.

There are always things that can help you out in the middle of a game, and you will need to simply recognize which ones they are. Once you have figured out what will really be helpful while golfing, you can start to figure out the method of getting them around with you as you traverse the golf course.

The following article lists some simple, informative tips that will help you have a better experience with Golf Drivers.

If you don’t have accurate details regarding Golf Drivers, then you might make a bad choice on the subject. Don’t let that happen: keep reading.

In golf, the driver is also known as the 1 wood. Normally it’s the longest club in the bag and has the largest head. This club is used to hit the ball off the tee out of the box, which is where the ball is teed up to start playing a hole. Of course, on a short par 3 hole, the driver would be left in the bag, and another club would be selected, unless the golfer just had a hankering to fly the green and blow any chance at making a birdie or par.

Now, it should be noted that the club known as the driver is not something that can be used to literally drive someone around. If anyone put this club behind the wheel of their car and climbed into the back seat expecting to be chauffeured to a specific destination, or just driven around in general, they will have a very, very, very long wait. After all, it is a golf club, not someone who gets paid to drive cars. It does not have arms or legs, nor does it have eyes or ears. You will note there was no mention of a brain, but that is because there are so many people on the road who also do not appear to have a functioning brain while they are driving.

On the other hand, a driver (the golf club) is a great way to get the ball down the links on the golf course. A well hit ball can travel more than three hundred yards. However, this kind of driving power is most often seen on the Professional Golf Association (PGA) tour. The average golfer is doing well to hit the ball two hundred and fifty to two hundred and seventy five yards off the tee and these are not drives to be ashamed of.

There is no set average distance for holes on the golf course, which makes driving on different courses a major challenge, in some cases. Some par 4 holes can be as short as two hundred and eighty five yards, while others can be closer to five hundred yards in length. Either way, a well hit drive is required to do well in the game of golf.

The basic idea of driving the golf ball is to keep the ball in the fairway, out of the rough, avoiding sand traps, and most definitely staying away from any water hazards the course may have to offer. This concept, though, is easier said than done. After all, the least little thing can affect the golfer’s concentration. This can result in the ball being, toed, or hit off the front of the driver, or heeled, which is when the ball is hit off the back part of the driver. Those are bad things.

Toeing a drive will send the ball sharply to the right if the golfer is right handed, or to the left if the golfer is a southpaw. Consequently, a drive hit off the heel of the club will go left for the right handed player and right for the lefty.

Don’t limit yourself by refusing to learn the details about Golf Drivers. The more you know, the easier it will be to focus on what’s important.

Do you have a clear understanding of exactly how each of your clubs will hit the ball during ideal conditions? In the past, golfers would just go by feel when choosing a club for each of their shots.

Then came professional golfer Deane Bemon. In the 1950s, he was considered the first person to decide which club he was going to use that was based entirely on how many yards there were to his target.

If Bemon was facing a shot that was 125 yards to the flagstick and if his pitching wedge was the club that would cause the ball to travel that exact distance, he would use that club! Choosing the right club for each shot boiled down to a science for Deane Bemon.

This particular golf strategy was initially frowned upon by most golfers. However, in just a very short period of time, the method of choosing the right golf club, by knowing exactly how it will cause the ball to travel, has become the standard for most players of today.

Another famous golf player, a professional known as Jack Nicklaus, learned this exact technique from Mr. Bemon and went on to become one of the greatest golf players of all-time.

Take Notes

By now you probably realize just how effective it is to know your clubs, so to speak. You need practice this same strategy as the professionals did in the past so that you can start hitting your ball as close to the intended target as possible.

If you do not have a clear idea of approximately how far you hit the ball with each of your clubs, you will repetitively hit shots that are either too far or too short, and your scorecard will prove it. Do yourself a favor and take the time to remove the guesswork of how far your golf clubs will hit the ball. Not only will your score improve, but your accuracy and concentration levels will increase.

Learn How Far You Can Hit The Ball With Each Club

Even though specific clubs are designed for long shots and other clubs were made for shorter ones, the distance that different players can hit the very same club will vary tremendously. This is why so many beginner golfers do not get the results they want from a club that is supposed to hit the ball in a certain way.

The best way to learn specifically what you can accomplish with each golf club is to find a large field that is big enough to handle the travel distance of your longest drive. Make sure that there are no windy conditions that day, and of course be positive that the field is empty for obvious safety reasons.

Now take out each club and hit 7 to 10 shots with every one. After each shot, measure the distance by pacing off how far each ball traveled. In order to measure correctly, you need to read the distance in yards. In order to do this, simply take out a yardstick and take one step forward to cover the entire length. All you have to do now is take the same strides and walk the distance of each swing to learn exactly how many yards each your clubs will hit the ball.
