Want to know what professional golfers really think about the big issues of 2009? Here are the key findings of LET 2009 survey . . . Golf in the Olympics What is the ultimate prize: Olympic Gold, the US Open or the British Open? Unsurprisingly the British Open was a convincing winner (57%) but the lure of gold in 2016 was greater than we expected with 20% wanting the medal ahead of the two Opens and a further 17% keen to grab all three. The marketing of ladies golf When we asked the players to get creative and suggest improvements for the promotion of the game the biggest cry was for improved television coverage. In terms of competing in a men’s event 1 in 4 respondents have or would consider playing (”it would be an amazing experience”), but they were keen to qualify under what circumstances. “Only as a one-off”, said one and, “not unless it was co-sanctioned with ALL the professionals,” said another. In a slightly more frivolous vein we asked what music the players would play on the first tee if it were permitted (as Aussie player Anna Rawson suggested it should). If it ever happens be prepared for lots of Black Eyed Peas and Coldplay. Tiger Woods When doing the survey to the LET and the players getting the opportunity to answer it something hit the fan – and it wasn’t a wild Tiger tee shot. The players responded in the first week of the controversy and reaction to those early scandals was mixed. Clearly, when we asked if players preferred Woods or Mickelson, some were having doubts. “Mickelson,” said one player. “Or haven’t you read the news lately?” “Right now it is Mickelson ha ha,” wrote another before qualifying with a statement that seemed to sum the general feeling up. “No, still Woods even though I’m very disappointed. ” Tiger remained more popular with nearly two thirds of the vote but, three weeks on, with more scandal having emerged, it would be interesting to ask the question again and see if those numbers flipped over in favour of Mickelson. Sexism in golf According to research the only growth area in club memberships is amongst young women and yet golf clubs still operate 19th century policies. It’s absurd: who would you rather play golf with or sit next to in a clubhouse bar? Someone who likes golf (their sex is irrelevant) or a mad man (or even sad man) who is prejudiced against half the human race? So how do Europe’s finest lady golfers view the golfing gender gap? The general feeling is that the professional game is slightly less sexist than club golf. “Too many courses are still in the dark ages,” wrote one player. Article recommended: Why golf is better than sex Tour questions We can reveal that Becky Brewerton is the ball-striker most admired by her peers. Diana Luna’s short game and Rebecca Hudson’s putting skills are also envied, but neither swept the board in the overwhelming fashion Brewerton did. Talking of fashion, Beatriz Recari was voted “best dressed off the course” with Paula Marti and Rebecca Coakley sharing the “on the course” vote. Fashion home: www. go4uggboots. com We also asked if Michelle Wie will have won a major by the end of 2012. A hefty 83% think she will have but one player was unimpressed. “Sorry,” however, she candidly wrote, “couldn’t care less. ” Tour life Finally what picture emerges of the LET golfers off the course? Musically, in addition to the Black Eyed Peas and Coldplay, there were votes for Eminem, the Foo Fighters, Linkin Park, Justin Timberlake, Beyonce and Michael Jackson. Someone also likes the Lighthouse Family. Oh dear! Most use social media with a tour average of 366 friends or followers on Facebook and/or Twitter (the tour highest is 1220). They have a weakness for sunglasses and shoes (the items they admit to having spent most on for golf-course wear) and they prefer 24 and The X Factor to The Wire and The Apprentice.
It should come as no surprise that some of the most expensive golf clubs in the country are found in and around Las Vegas. It’s just not as easy as you might think to keep a lush green in the middle of a desert! That said, many private golf courses in the area don’t even list rates, so one can only guess how steep the rates actually are. But there are still a number of private and public courses where you can go and play a great round of golf – and still leave the green with some greenbacks in your wallet.
I lost at blackjack last night but I still have $50 left. . . can I play golf, or should I just head over to the slot machines instead?
Well, I guess that all depends on just how lucky you feel. But if you are tired of giving the casinos all of your money, and want to take advantage of the great golf courses Las Vegas has to offer, then you are in luck. . . maybe. A growing concern for those wanting to play on the golf courses in the Las Vegas area is the fluctuating rates. Hey, we’re all used to rates changing due to seasons, lighting conditions, reservations. . . the works. But some of the golf courses in Las Vegas have divided the seasons up in ever-more-imaginative ways, that seem to try and squeeze every last possible dollar out of the green. However (and this is subject to change, so DEFINITELY try to book some green time as far in advance as possible), the following golf courses can be played for $50 or less: Craig Ranch, Los Prados, and Eagle Crest.
I managed to escape the casinos with $100. . . golf anyone?
If you have been able to squirrel away a Ben Franklin, then a lot of the golf courses Las Vegas offers will gladly put you on the green. Now again, the rates at some golf courses are changing by the day, it seems – so be sure to check before showing up with only Ben. Those officially posting fees of $100 or less during the winter months are: Desert Rose, Las Vegas Golf Club, Painted Desert, Highland Falls, Palm Valley, Las Vegas National Golf Club, and the Rhodes Ranch. Oh, and for those not “in the know”, rates tend to be higher for golf courses in Las Vegas during the winter months, as the heat can be downright brutal during the summer. Oh yeah, Las Vegas is in the middle of a big desert, isn’t it?
I really need to stretch my golfing funds as much as possible. . . what options do I have?
No worries, my friend – sometimes the cards just aren’t rolling. You can save anywhere from $5-15 by walking golf courses instead of driving the carts. Not a great option during the heat of the summer months, but an option that can help stretch the dollar a little farther.
Twilight rates are another way to save money, but they can be very confusing. What is most confusing about the golf courses Las Vegas has to offer is that their twilight rates are not necessarily offered in the dying light. During the summer months, and due to the extreme heat, twilight hours tend to start in the late morning and early afternoon. In the winter, however, twilight hours occur at the end of the day, and it is not uncommon for golfers to not get in an entire 18 holes.
While Las Vegas does have many exclusive golf clubs, with prices so steep that they refuse to post them, there are a number of reasonably priced golf courses that offer some great greens at prices even the worst of gamblers can afford. Plus, if you are wise and plan accordingly, you can get those low prices even lower – and maybe even get in another round of golf to keep your mind off those lousy cards for a few hours longer! After a great round on the green, I can promise you that you will not leave Las Vegas feeling like a “loser” – even if your wallet tells you otherwise.

Do they work? That is one question that bogs the mind of many aspiring golfers, or people who are just venturing into the golfing profession. For individuals who have tried it, it is simply amazing and produces the best results. I believe it is every golfers dream to reduce his/her number of strokes to the minimum, that is, to hit the fist hole in one stroke. There is no any simple and effective way you can achieve that except by fixing the mistakes that you experience with your golf swings. Golf swing instructions are not any farce; in fact you can improve your game within the shortest time possible. You will be able to say bye to the many rounds, you usually take to hit the hole. This method has helped people to reduce their strokes by up to fifteen strokes within a short time. In addition the instructions will increase your playing confidence to great levels. Up to that point, I know you want to get going. That is a wise decision and I guarantee you great results that are proven. One of the important golf swing instructions is to keep your head down every time you hit the golf ball; actually, it is advisable to wait until the ball lands before you lift your head up. The reason why you should strive to keep your head down every time you play is to prevent any ball top that easily deny the ball certain lifts needed to stick greens. Lifting your head can also lead to bouncing balls that are very hard to control. Another way of improving your golf performance is to be at home with different ways of hitting each club. You should be able to hit a pitching wedge of 130 yards or 95 yard pitch off the greens. If you can master the different styles of hitting the ball you will be able to achieve full swings, half strength swings as well as short chipping swings. If you learn how to use the various clubs of different lengths, you will be able to handle a low hanging branch on a short pitch using a half strength 5-iron rather than a wedge. These two ways are just all you need to make fantastic hits or strokes. You cannot learn all these by studying how people play, but through the fabulous golf swing instruction. Slicing the golf ball once is embarrassing. Slicing the golf ball swing after swing is humiliating. One of the fastest ways to improve your golf game is to ask a golf swing coach for golf swing instruction. The next best way is to study and understand the correct golf swing mechanics. Do you have these 3 problems with your golf swing: 1) inconsistency; 2) slice; 3) distance? Find out how to improve your swing and cut your Handicap by 7-12 Strokes and Lengthen your Drive in just 2 Weeks with my FREE Special Report. Click Here.

Golf Etiquette is a principle that needs to be learned from right in the beginning of learning the game along with how to use the correct golf swing mechanics. Etiquette is social mannerisms that needs to be taught in order to make everyone else that’s playing with you that much more enjoyable to be with on the golf course. With the evolution of the game and more average golfers watching golf on television. The popularity of the game has exploded and now everyone feels like that they can play the game just like the tournament professionals. That’s why knowing the local and U. S. G. A. rules are so important when it comes to fair play. Becoming a role model that abides by the rules, having social etiquette, all leads to outstanding gamesmanship play. On any given weekend, with the game’s popularity at an all-time high, there are more people than ever playing golf. Cheers regularly sprout up after making putts and long drives, and it happens everywhere from private clubs to public golf courses. The number one gripe by most golfers is slow play. Whatever it takes. Whether it’s picking up the golf ball or throwing it up to the edge of the green, always maintain a ready to play position on the golf course well ahead of the group behind you. The problems most golf course marshals will tell you is that when it comes to recreational golfers they tend to spend way too much time on inferior play or lost golf balls. No one ever mastered the game in a day, and even a $4 Titleist Pro V1x isn’t worth ruining the round for the groups behind you. Most golf etiquette is based upon common sense. Don’t touch your golf ball and play from where it lies unless otherwise stated in agreement by everyone else playing with you. Don’t fake sneezing or refrain from talking when someone in your group is going through their golf swing. Repairing ball marks on the green and divots in the fairway makes the golf course play better for everyone. Personal space is also crucial. Stand out of the lines of sight in all playing situations. Don’t crowd. Above all else be fair to yourself and everyone else by counting all of your strokes and marking down the correct score on the scorecard. When you hit the ball out of bounds admit to it, and play your next shot according to the rules of the game. Even if it means walking back to the tee box to rehit with a stroke penalty. When your on the green don’t trample another player’s putting line. Be aware of shadows over people’s lines and over the cup. As petty as this may sound don’t pull your golf ball after making a putt with your putter. A dented cup made by your putter or another golf ball left in the hole can actually propel another golf ball out. Stranger things have happened. The general consensus is that most rules are broken, not out of spite, but out of ignorance. A beginner grounding a club in a sand trap (stroke penalty) is usually not trying to gain a competitive advantage. If that same beginner putts out of turn (closer to the hole) it’s normally not intentional, either. Good Etiquette is all about common sense but, what about gamesmanship? Pushing proper etiquette to the limits?Golf psychology was meant as a form of torture for golfers no matter what your skill level your at. You get players that will try to get into your head. They’ll say little things that try to get you going. Subtleties do become obvious and can lead to anger, fights, obscene language, and walking off the golf course leaving your group behind you. I hate it when your teeing off and someone starts walking before you even hit the ball. I would catch the person out of the corner of my eye. I remember in a High School match my good friend that I played golf with on a regular basis did this to me. He would do this for three or four holes. I warned him that I had no idea or control when I hit the golf ball where it was going. I asked him was I holding him up?I’ve always hit a low trajectory shot. I still do today. I have no idea how to hit a high trajectory, my golf swing mechanics is based upon memory of how to hit a low trajectory. The problem is if someone is standing in front of me, and I hit my missile shot the golf ball can do great damage to the body. I believe I could cut you in half. I’ve tried it on the yellow pages book and the golf ball did cut a hole right through it. Anyways were on a par 5 and my friend hits a great second shot. We believe he made it onto the green, and he goes running to the bend in the fairway on top of the hill to look. Not realizing other golfers in our group are also hitting. Now it’s my turn and I ask him to get behind a tree to the side of the fairway. He ignores me so I hit my 3 wood and it’s a blazing rocket about waist length off the fairway, and you guessed it? It hits him squarely in the rib cage and he goes down like a deer being shot. I thought I had killed him. He wasn’t moving and we had to get a rescue crew to the scene. That night I visited him in the hospital it turns out he was lucky. The golf ball broke two of his ribs and bruised his lung. It could of been a lot worse. That was 36 years ago and I bet you he still has the golf ball dimples where it him to show for it. Some groups think they’re the only ones in the whole world. You can now frequently hear more often hoots and hollers. I’m noticing that a little bit more, and on a golf course like mine that has close fairways and greens, it can become a distraction. The bottom line with playing golf it’s as close to reflecting real life. Treat others with respect and your surroundings as you would have them treat you, and if you have a question, ask for it.

Learning proper golf etiquette and the rules of the game is essential to fair play for everyone.

Now it’s time to head to the golf course. You can’t wait to try out that golf swing of yours. Try going to one of your local public golf courses. There are many very nice public golf courses that are also very challenging. These courses are much cheaper than a lot of your fancy country club type golf courses. Check out what types of golf courses are in your area. There are a couple of golf courses by me that are only 9 holes. One of them is a par 3 golf course. This is an excellent type of course to bring your kids when you are just introducing them to golf. The course is smaller so they can hit any club they want. Also with the golf course being so short it is easier for them to walk it. Another advantage of a par 3 golf course is it gives you plenty of practice with your irons. You will always be using an iron off the tee so you will know exactly how far the green is and how far you hit your club. One other great advantage of a par 3 golf course is it’s not expensive. In fact it is cheaper for me to take my family there as it is to go to the driving range. You should also see if they have a nice driving range, putting green and even a chipping green. These all come in handy to loosen you up before your round starts. Don’t forget to check the clubhouse. See if they have a golf pro that runs the pro shop. If they do see if they offer lessons and how much they cost. This is a good way to learn the game and also become friends with the person who runs the show at the golf course. So check around, find what is right for you and get out there and have some fun.

Every golf swing technique differs depending on the person using it. A golf swing technique is generally applicable only to the person who has discovered it. It cannot be used or imitated by another. However, even if a golf swing technique of another cannot be used, there are ways to improve it.

First on the list is good posture. A good golf swing technique is attributable to one?s posture. A firm, elegant and professional-like posture will give you the edge in swinging your golf club. The ideal posture is keeping your back straight but at the same time, one must be comfortable in doing it. The question now is how will good posture affect one?s golf swing technique? The answer to this question is simple; the proper posture will let one swing accurately. It will also create that perfect 360-degree swinging motion that everyone wants.

Second is perfect balance. Balance is important in improving one?s golf swing technique. One?s weight should be on the balls of the feet and must be equally distributed to the back and front foot. If one is out of balance, it is hard to imagine doing a golf swing perfectly.

Third, when swinging a golf club, perfect timing is important. A golf swing technique must always consider perfect timing. Perfect timing means swing accuracy, impact on the golf ball and follow-through motion. When these elements of timing are complete, playing golf will just be like a walk in the park.

Fourth is alignment. To determine the proper alignment, place a golf club up against the edge of your toes and make sure the club is pointing to your target. This will be your target line and shoulders, hips and knees must be parallel to this line.

Fifth is proper grip. There are many kinds of golf club grip available. One can also create his own grip; the important thing is that you are comfortable with the way you hold the golf club.

The following ways can improve the manner and style of swinging a golf club. And this improvement can also help in creating or expanding one?s golf swing technique. As stated, a golf swing technique is special only to the person using it. One may imitate it, but the results would be different.

A golf swing technique may be improved through the ways and means mentioned. By following the proper guidelines in proper golf stance, perfect balance of the body and alignment, timing, and proper grip, one may be able to create his own way of swinging. Also, if one already has a golf swing technique, he can improve this by making sure that everything is coordinated and planned.

Finally, a golf swing technique will be improved only by constant and dedicated practice. Books will not help you improve, practice will. Be sure that you are practicing the same technique over and over in order for you to be familiarized and accustomed to it. In addition, repeated practice of one?s technique will help your body muscles remember it and as a result, you will be doing the same technique unconsciously.

How can you develop more power in your golf swing? This is probably a question that all of us want an answer to. Most of us go to great lengths to do whatever it takes to get that “power” into our drives off the tee. I think we probably all have some ideas of where 300-yard drives come from, but I want to give you the answers without any “fluff.”Golf swing power is the result of three specific factors. Two out of the three are much more important, but the third does have a bearing on the outcome of how far you hit that ball. The first and probably most evident of the three is your swing mechanics. I bet you are not surprised by this one.The second one is probably the least recognized of the three, but for many is the “key” to longer drives and the category that is given the least amount of attention. Number two is what we term golf strength. This is defined as how well your body is conditioned (i.e. fitness) to swing a golf club with maximum power. Probably the least understood of the three, and maybe the most needed by golfers in general. We will talk more about this later. Let us move on to number three in regards to power for your drives.Number three is your equipment. Yes, equipment does make a difference in how far you drive the ball. The equipment manufacturers have let this fact be known, and I bet we all have gone to the pro shop probably more than twice to pick up a new driver that claims to give us another 20 yards on every drive. That extra 20 yards might not be down the middle of the fairway, but it will give you an extra 20 yards… could be left, could be right, or could be in the center of the fairway. That all depends on points one and two of this article. Equipment and technological advances have definitely lengthened the distance of our drives. But without better swing mechanics and your body in better golf shape, new technology will not help your game. A bad swing will produce a bad result, regardless of what type of “new” driver you may have just purchased.Swing MechanicsI think all of us are aware of how important the mechanics of a swing are when it comes to driving the ball down the fairway. It is essential, if you are over the top with your swing or come inside too much, you’ll see that dreaded slice or snap hook. The drives will be short, too low, too high, left, right, or a combination of these if you are putting bad swings on the ball.It is essential for a golfer to work on the mechanics of their swing, week in and week out, to improve their game. If it weren’t important why would all these tour players have swing coaches that work with them on a consistent basis? The golf swing is such a finite, mechanically complex movement, that requires constant work to keep it highly efficient and in check. One of the most common mistakes I see amateurs make is probably a lack of instruction. I see amateurs over and over at the driving ranges, week in and week out, pounding balls without any improvement. This, I feel, is a result of one of two things: 1) a lack of instruction or 2) low levels of golf strength. A lack of instruction leads to the development and ingraining of improper swing mechanics. This only results in slices, hooks, topping the ball, and hitting it fat on the course. And we all know that those types of swings lead to frustration and bad rounds of golf. I would suggest to most anyone to find a good instructor and take lessons on a consistent basis. This can only help your game in the long run. Now moving on the second point of how to achieve powerful drives and that is golf strength.Golf Strength (Golf Fitness)Golf strength is a term we use to describe the golf fitness level of an individual pertaining to swinging a club. This is much different than how much you can bench press or squat, which I like to refer to as “weight room strength.” Understand that these two terms, golf strength and weight room strength, are very different. If you do not quite understand the difference, ask yourself one question: How many bodybuilders do you see teeing it up on Tour? The answer to that question is quite obvious, none!It comes down to this idea: the mechanics of a golf swing require specific levels of flexibility, balance, stability, strength, endurance, and power to perform it efficiently. If your body does not have the required capacities of the aforementioned list, then the result will be? Anyone want to guess? Well, let me give you the answer: a less than optimal and less efficient swing than possible. Essentially, your body supports your swing much like a foundation supports the house you build upon it. I am sure that all of you would choose to build a house on a stone foundation rather than a sand foundation, wouldn’t you? I will say that many of you make a different choice when it comes to your golf swing. I quite often see amateurs developing their swing on a “foundation of sand,” not a good thing to do in my book.Regardless of how much time you work on your swing mechanics, if your body does not have the “golf strength” to support your swing, you are limiting your potential. I have seen it numerous times, people practicing at the range who struggle, not because of trying to get better, but because their bodies are limiting what they can do with their swing. Quite often I see people with limited flexibility, poor balance capabilities, and low levels of strength and power. The bottom line is that your mechanics will not get better until you fix the body that swings the club!Up to this point we have discussed the two most important ideas when it comes to power on the golf course. A review of the topics tells us that they are optimal swing mechanics and the proper levels of “golf strength” in the body. One without the other is going to leave you short when it comes to your potential in the game.Again, I probably see point number two, golf strength, being addressed less often than swing mechanics when you get right down to it. The pros are all aware of the importance of golf strength, why not you?EquipmentWe have come to the final point, and that is equipment. I think the majority of golfers are aware of the technological advances that have occurred in golf equipment over the last 20 years. I mean, think about the ’80’s when we were still playing with woods that actually had wood club heads! Imagine that for a moment, and now we are using drivers with space age faces that shoot the ball off of them at warp speed. In addition, we have to mention the advances in terms of golf balls. How manufacturers design golf balls today makes a difference in how far they travel. What a lot of people do not realize is that the USGA has set standards on how “hot” driver faces can be and how “fast” balls can come off the face of drivers. Most clubs are reaching this limit, and anything past these USGA rules becomes illegal to play. So what does that tell us? 1) Club manufacturers have done a great, and I mean great, job in the advancement of technology, and 2) to increase the distance on your drives you are now going to have to turn to points one and two of this article. So what does improving your power really come down to?It comes down to three simple ideas. Number one is improving your golf swing mechanics. Improved mechanics will improve your driving distance. Number two is improving your golf strength. By improving your body as it pertains to the golf swing you will improve your distance off the tee. Finally, equipment does make a difference, if you hit the ball correctly.

Golf is a difficult game to master and most golfers don’t have the time it takes to practice, practice, and practice to significantly improve. When you’re playing golf badly it isn’t a lot of fun. Even the guys who play golf for a living and get the best golf instruction in the world still struggle to improve their golf; and they practice each and every day!

Concentrate totally on your game and you’ll get the best score. The positive energy you send out will influence your game, just as negative thinking and therefore negative energy will affect it also. Golf requires tough mental fitness as well as physical fitness and is often overlooked.

Use the basic ‘hitchhiker’ position when you’re working on your backswing. Ask your golf pro to evaluate your posture while swinging. One of the problems that most inexperienced golfers share is they think too much about their swing.

Before you swing, make sure you’re relaxed; contract all your muscles tightly for a moment and then relax them. As the body matures, the ability to rotate the upper torso is affected by age, and the hand action can also slow down requiring a slightly stronger grip. Try not to grip the club too tightly.

Putting can become a nightmare and a condition called the ‘yips’ has affected not only amateurs but professionals as well; get expert advice and consider a golf swing aid. Putts and short chips are ideally played without much movement of the body, but most other golf shots are played using variants of the full golf swing.

At the end of a swing, the weight has shifted almost entirely to the left foot, the body is fully turned to the left and the hands are above the left shoulder with the club hanging down over the players’ back.

Swing slowly and steadily using a nice rhythm. At the end of a backswing the hands are above the right shoulder, with the golf club pointing more or less in the intended direction of ball flight.

Workouts with straight crunches won’t improve your swing or driving distance; concentrate on weighted rotational exercises instead. Using a weighted club, make rotational golf swings to improve your power. Once you understand that you can change your swing by using a simple technique, you’ll never underestimate golf fitness again.

Golf swing aids come in all shapes and sizes including apparel type accessories to correct alignment or a golf club add-on accessory to monitor your swing. There are golf swing aids that act as driving range simulators. Golf aids are often for sale at your pro shop or local golf shop.

Most of all don’t waste your money on a golf swing aid you don’t need or will never use. Sporting goods stores have golf aids to improve your game. Look for golf swing aids at your local golf course.

Golf magazines often review the newest golf swing aids and are reviewed by golfers, making it easy to choose the right one for you. Overall, investing in golf swing aids will greatly improve your golf swing and your golf game. If you’re looking for an aid to improve your stance they’re not hard to find.

Before buying any golf swing aid, check with an expert to get an idea of what problem you need to work on first; backlift of golf swing, momentum of downward thrust or stance for example. In any case, stick to just one golf swing aid at a time; don’t load up on them.

If you’ve hit with your golf driver perfectly once, you can do it every time. There are a lot of places to get golf swing tips, golf game tips and golf instruction so when you do have time to hit the course, you’ll have a plan in mind. Having a plan and working on specific aspects of the swing or game should be your goal.
